Our Lunch Lecture was able to live up to these expectations!
Together with HEALTH+ and FACE@RUB (Female Academic Entrepreneurs) from the Worldfactory Start-up Center (WSC) and the Social Sciences Internship Office, the Smart Systems incubator was able to sensitise students to the topic and enable an exchange with experienced female founders.
The focus was on the question: Humanities and social sciences & founding - does that fit?
Our answer is a very clear: YES!
Nowadays, the importance of interface competences in the knowledge- and research-intensive service sector continues to increase. In order to do justice to the social transformations, continuous reflection and discussion with generalists who can grasp complex contexts and structure them precisely and systematically is of great importance. In addition, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral cooperation within science and companies is suitable for meeting the diverse requirements of product development in a digital world.
Through the two founders Dr. Claudia Niewerth from the helex institute and Diana Huth from ACTitude, our people interested in founding a company were given further valuable insights into the real start-up business with its rough edges as well as very helpful tips along the way in an interesting exchange.
In the process, they confided in us the following: Failure is okay! An idea can change and that's not bad, it might even be necessary! If you are really convinced of your idea, you will find a way! The team composition can also change - neither do you have to start in a team, nor does the team always have to stay the same. The important thing is that you understand each other in the team and have a common goal in mind that you can pursue together!
Last but not least, Claudia appealed to us to make use of the many different support programmes that now exist around the Worldfactory Start-up Center (WSC), as they can offer huge support, especially financially!
We would like to thank everyone for their participation and are already looking forward to the next joint event.
